Jansen Art’15 Fire NR E-EW fire protection door system
After nearly two decades in the building industry, housebuilder Harj Tamber finally fulfilled his long-held dream: to design and build his own family home. The result is a stunning, light-filled four-bedroom house in Uxbridge, London that blends elegance with outstanding performance.

To make his vision a reality, Harj demolished a derelict property and started from scratch. The new property centres around open-plan living, with a large kitchen and main living area that flow seamlessly into the hallway thanks to a sleek glazed internal door to continue the feeling of uninterrupted space.
Throughout the design and build process, Harj carefully selected high-quality products that would deliver on style, comfort, and durability. He partnered with AumAxum Architectural Glazing to install a series of Schüco door systems that play a key role in the home’s layout and overall sense of space. These include an internal glazed fire door, a secure front door with smart features, and three large sliding doors at the rear of the property.
Safety was a priority. While fire regulations required the internal door separating the living area and hallway to be fire-rated, Harj didn’t want to compromise the open, airy feel of the space. He found the perfect balance with the newly released Schüco Jansen Art’15 Fire door system. Combining extremely slim, elegant sightlines with large glass panels, the door provides essential fire protection while maintaining the visual flow throughout the ground floor.

The front door needed to be just as impressive, offering both high-end design and robust security. The Schüco ADS 75 front door ticked every box, with its secure multi-point locking system and rigorous testing to ensure top-tier protection.
The door is fitted with smart technology which allows it to be unlocked at the touch of a button using a smartphone app. A level threshold provides trip-free, easy access to the home, while its excellent thermal performance helps to maintain a comfortable, draught-free environment.
Harj worked closely with AumAxum to create a bespoke design, choosing a textured black finish to give the door a contemporary, steel-like look. He also selected Adecco LEDs set into the door frame, which operate on a timer for a unique feature.
At the rear of the home, three sets of Schüco ASE 60 lift-and-slide doors open the main living space up to the garden. Each door features two large glass panels that glide effortlessly along floor-level tracks, creating a seamless transition between the indoors and outside. As well as maximising natural light, the doors outstanding thermal performance helps to keep the home comfortable, no matter the weather.
As a trusted Schüco partner, AumAxum ensured the whole process ran smoothly, from fabrication through to installation. Harj was delighted with the final result, praising the team for their expertise and service. Vijay Yuvaraj, project manager at AumAxum, commented on his experience working with Schüco:
When we install Schüco systems in a home, I rest easy knowing my customers have the best, and that they’re unlikely to have any issues with the products we’ve installed.

The family moved into their new home last summer, and the space has already transformed their everyday life. Whether cooking or relaxing, the design of their new open plan home has made it much easier for the family to spend time together. Harj is looking forward to throwing open the sliding doors and entertaining family and friends in his stunning new home.
