From the amount of natural light that fills the property, to the way the indoors seamlessly connects with the outdoors, every detail matters when it comes to creating the perfect home.
Agarwal Manor, a contemporary new build in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, is a prime example of how careful design, smart technology and a deep understanding of the site and surroundings of a home can enhance family living.
Nestled beside a local nature reserve, this modern home makes the most of expansive glazing, slim profiles and intelligent automation to create a comfortable, light-filled sanctuary.

Inspired by the surroundings
As an experienced developer, the homeowner had a clear vision of what his dream family home would look like from the outset. It would be modern in appearance and should feel connected to the outdoors. He also wanted the property to suit his family’s lifestyle needs so it needed to be light and airy, practical, safe and of course, energy efficient.
The site’s proximity to a golf course presented a unique challenge. Although the client wanted maximum light throughout the house, the glazing also needed to be robust enough to withstand any stray golf balls from the neighbouring course.
The ambitious design led them to AumAxum Architectural Glazing which specialises in delivering high-performance glazing systems for complex projects. To meet both the design brief and this particular challenge, AumAxum specified toughened laminated glass throughout, ensuring security and durability.
Maximising light, space and flow
AumAxum led the design process, ensuring the curtain wall systems, sliding doors, and windows complemented one another for a cohesive aesthetic. The company also provided expert guidance on the most suitable Schüco systems for the project to deliver the highest standards of performance and design.
Creating a smooth transition between indoor and outdoor living was a key consideration for the design. Generous curtain walling and expansive sliding doors flood the house with natural light throughout, while offering uninterrupted panoramic views of the surroundings. Even the balcony walls are glass, providing unspoiled views and a closer connection to the outdoors from the upper level of the house.
The design also considers privacy within the interior. One small room in the house has glass walls created using Schüco systems, however the transparent glass panels turn opaque at the touch of a button giving privacy to the room’s occupants.

Innovative touches
For optimal ventilation, Schüco automated opening windows were integrated into the design, ensuring fresh air circulation throughout the house. The windows interact seamlessly with the property’s full home automation system, which also controls lighting, shading, and various environmental settings. Pairing high performance systems with intelligent controls provides a comfortable environment while supporting the overall energy efficiency of the house. The result is a beautiful family home that merges elegant architectural design and innovation with everyday comfort. Its lasting impact is perfectly summed up by the client:
Living here feels like a dream. It’s not just a house – it’s a sanctuary and we’re proud to call it home.
