General

What are the advantages of Schüco bi-fold doors?
Schüco bi-fold doors provide flexible, wide-open spaces, perfect for connecting indoor and outdoor areas. They fold back neatly to create a seamless flow between spaces and are designed with high-quality materials for longevity and performance. Additionally, they offer excellent thermal insulation and security features.
Why should I choose aluminium or steel for my windows and doors?
Aluminium and steel are excellent choices for windows and doors because of their strength, durability, and low maintenance. Aluminium is lightweight and robust, offering slim profiles that allow for larger glass areas and more natural light. Steel provides exceptional strength and can support even larger structures than aluminium. Both materials are resistant to rust and corrosion, making them ideal for long-term use.
Should I buy sliding doors or bi-fold doors?
It depends on your space and how you plan to use it. Sliding doors are great for saving space as they slide along a track and do not require room to open. They offer a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor areas. Bi-fold doors, on the other hand, fold back in sections and can create a wide-open space, perfect for entertaining. Consider your space and how you use it to decide which option is best for you.
How do I maintain aluminium or steel windows and doors?
Maintenance is simple. Regular cleaning with a mild detergent and water will keep them looking great. Check the hardware and seals periodically to ensure they are functioning correctly. Unlike wood, aluminium and steel do not require painting or staining.
What are the security features of aluminium and steel windows and doors?
Both aluminium and steel windows and doors offer excellent security features. They can be fitted with multi-point locking systems, toughened or laminated glass, and additional security hardware to provide peace of mind.
Can aluminium or steel windows and doors be customised?
Yes, both materials offer great flexibility in design. You can customise the size, shape, and finish to suit your specific needs and preferences. This allows for unique architectural designs and personal touches.

Is triple glazing worth it?
Yes, triple glazing is worth it for enhanced energy efficiency, noise reduction, and condensation control. It features three glass layers with insulating spaces, significantly reducing heat loss and external noise. While the upfront cost is higher, long-term energy savings and improved comfort make it a valuable investment, especially in extreme climates. Consider your budget, climate, and energy efficiency goals before deciding. If staying in your home long-term and noise reduction are priorities, triple glazing is a worthwhile choice.

What are the advantages of aluminium lift-and-slide doors?
An aluminium door featuring a lift-and-slide function combines exceptional stability, weather resistance, durability, and longevity. It remains colourfast, relatively lightweight, and highly adaptable. This versatility allows for seamless integration into various architectural styles, offering a durable and personalized solution for your home.
How good is the thermal insulation of an aluminium lift-and-slide door?
Aluminium doors and windows achieve remarkably low U values through a fusion of innovative profile constructions, multi-chamber systems, and insulation-enhancing materials. This not only mitigates the inherently high thermal conductivity of metal but elevates the insulation performance of each aluminium lift-and-slide door to an impressive standard.

Windows

Which colours are available for aluminium windows?
We offer a wide range of finishes including powder coating (RAL, matte & gloss) and anodized finishes, providing design freedom and a high level of protection. You can also choose the dual colour option for different colours inside and out.
What are casement windows?
Casement windows are hinged windows that open outward, usually with the opening at the bottom, left, or right-hand side. They are popular for their versatility, offering unobstructed views and optimal ventilation. Casement windows can be arranged in many ways – individually, in pairs or with fixed panes in between. Commonly found in contemporary and traditional homes, casement windows are known for their ease of use, durability, and ability to capture breezes effectively.
What are tilt/turn windows?
Tilt/turn windows are European-style windows that open in two ways: They tilt inwards with an opening at the top for controlled ventilation and swing inwards for easy cleaning and access. Known for their modern design and versatility, these windows provide greater flexibility and can often be constructed larger than casement windows.
What Uw values do aluminium windows achieve?
The Uw value of a window is always dependent on a variety of factors and is made up of the thermal insulation of the glass (Ug value) and the thermal insulation of the frame (Uf value). New aluminium windows use thermal breaks to achieve a high Uf value, so when paired with the appropriate glass, Uw values comparable to those in passive house standards can be achieved. This underscores the effectiveness of insulation in aluminium windows, making them a high-performing and energy-efficient choice for optimal thermal comfort in various settings.
Are aluminium windows and doors energy-efficient?
Yes, modern aluminium windows and doors are designed with thermal breaks and advanced glazing options that provide excellent insulation. This helps to keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer, reducing energy costs and increasing comfort.
Can I get aluminium windows and doors in different colours?
Absolutely! Aluminium windows and doors can be powder-coated in a wide range of colours to match your home’s aesthetic. You can choose from standard colours or custom options to create the perfect look.
Why might I want inward-opening windows?
Inward-opening windows are particularly easy to clean and provide ventilation control. They are also safer for upper floors and can be fitted with secure locking mechanisms. If you have limited outdoor space or obstacles like trees or balconies, inward-opening windows can be a practical solution.
